Litigation Attorneys - Legal Fees for Professional Services
By Kruger Engelbrecht on October 12, 2018Intermediate
The Cost of LitigationAmongst others, clause 35 of the Bill provides that, until an investigation by the South African Law Reform Commission has been completed during the two-year transitional period, fees for legal services (litigious and non-litigious) must be in accordance with tariffs determined by the Rules Board for Courts of Law.
The Rules Board must take into account a number of factors -
- the importance, significance and complexity of the service rendered;
- the seniority and experience of the legal practitioner concerned;
- the volume of work done; and
- the financial implications of the matter.
We subscribe to the above and will when first receiving instructions from a client, provide you with information regarding the envisaged costs of the legal services in question and the processes involved.
I.e. some legal matters are of an administrative nature and cannot be said to be complex. Other matters are by their very nature difficult and complex. We will at all times discuss billing with you and will bill in terms of a mandate.
